About Me

My name is Bill and I am the CEO and co-founder of Healbright.com , psychotherapist, and coach. My mission is to make the best practices of the mind sciences accessible to as many people as possible.

I received my undergraduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Vermont and my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Naropa University.  As a therapist, I have focused on Buddhist psychology, positive psychology, human development, and mind-body approaches to healing. My approach is client-centered and integrates Western and Eastern approaches to healing and wholeness. I have worked as an individual therapist, group therapist, and have taught various workshops in professional and academic settings. As the CEO of Healbright, I collaborate with leading mental health experts to produce curriculum on topics like neuroscience, parenting, meditation, sexuality, PTSD,nutrition, stress, resiliency, and more.

I have also practiced and studied various forms of Buddhist meditation for close to 15 years. I have studied Zen,Theravadan Buddhism, and Tibetan Buddhism with various teachers in Thailand,  India, Bhutan, Nepal and the U.S. Additionally, I have spent 6 months in meditation retreat in monastic, solitary, and secular settings. I continue to practice and study Buddhist Psychology and meditation under the direction of Dr. Daniel P. Brown and Rahob Rinpoche. My practice experience and studies of Asian culture help me demystify a wide variety of meditation practices for my clients.

My approach to coaching combines therapeutic interventions, meditation instruction, and my personal experience from starting and running a business. My coaching style focuses on listening and understanding the roots of my client's struggles and takes the view that personal and professional problems often stem from deeper psychological dynamics. I use an integrated model of wellness that takes into account biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors of wellness.

I provide coaching to a small group of individuals in addition to my work at Healbright. Outside of my professional work, I am passionate about martial arts, nature, and music.
